Nintendo Entertainment System

NES-001

A mid/late-production front-loader board revision, roughly 1988-90. Ricoh 2A03 CPU (6502 + PSG audio) at 1.79 MHz paired with the Ricoh 2C02 PPU; 2 KB work RAM, 2 KB VRAM. Retains the ZIF cartridge socket that gave the "toaster" its tidy look but also its infamous "blinking red light" fault as the 72 pins wore. That, plus a failing 10NES lockout handshake, are the two classic front-loader ailments. -07 sits within a series of cost-reduction revisions (NES-CPU-01 through -11) that are functionally identical to the launch board.
