One of the earlier North American SNES motherboard revisions, around 1991-92. "3-chip" design: separate S-CPU, S-PPU1 and S-PPU2 packages, plus the standalone S-SMP/S-DSP audio subsystem. This is the layout most people had as kids. Compared to the late 1-CHIP boards the video output is noisier - visible "jailbars" on solid colours and slightly softer image - and component counts are higher. The discrete-PPU boards are also more flexible targets for cartridge-on-board enhancement chips that interface directly with the bus.
